After many years experience gained in the mechanical side of the motor trade, listening to horror stories, problems and complaints regarding the purchase of the new and used vehicles from motor dealers, I decided to do some research. I wanted to know what it would take to setup my own business as a motor dealer / provider.
In 1982, after many months of meetings and gentle persuasion from my bank manager, I decided to setup up a small manageable operation selling used but quality vehicles. I had high standards that needed to be followed by all and everyone who had dealings with my business. This meant I could confidently retail used vehicles without the problems I'd encountered so frequently during my mechanical days!
Slowly, and with precise management, I grew my business to the point where I had the opportunity to purchase our current premises. This took place in 1998. This meant I could present quality vehicles in a clean showroom environment, demonstrating how professional and committed I am. The Business has now doubled in size with the acquisition of the adjacent land in 2003.Now with just under 1 acre of land, I am able to display up to 130 vehicles for sale at any one time and have my own workshops, not just for the preparation of the cars before they are presented for sale, but any service requirements my customers may have during their ownership.
I have listened to complaints from customers regarding the purchase price of a new car within the UK, as a consequence I thought there may be a chance we could explore and become a new car supplier. I fully appreciated the implications and pitfalls alike of becoming a new car provider, although felt we could outweigh this with our experience, and was confident we could become a force to be reckoned with at which point we started supplying new cars at much reduced prices.
